Arizona holds 99,534 beauty licences
Arizona's Auditor General counted the state's beauty licences in June 2025: 39,520 cosmetologists, 34,167 aestheticians and nail technicians, and 16,490 establishments. 99,534 licences in all, held by 81,214 people.
In the Phoenix, Mesa and Chandler area, skincare specialists earn $57,530 a year on average, and 1,340 of them work for a business. 6,440 hairdressers work for one too. That is May 2025.
Whitening already sells here. A whitening studio on East Thunderbird Road near Paradise Valley Mall charges $174 for an hour. Allure Aesthetics in Gilbert lists $150 for an hour and a quarter. Precision Inkk in Mesa lists $200 for a first hour.
Since January 2022, one board licenses both trades: the Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board. Phoenix is a city of 1,665,481 people, by the Census estimate for July 2025.
Arizona also licenses 4,233 barbers and 1,251 hairstylists. Phoenix area manicurists earn $40,160 a year on average, and hairdressers $43,250.
